Treasury Reveals Investment Lineup for Trump Accounts

The Department of Treasury has announced selected investment options for Trump accounts. Investments are required to be a mutual fund or exchange traded fund that tracks the returns of a qualified index (such as the S&P 500) and has fees and expenses that do not exceed more than .1 percent. For initial launch of the accounts, contributions will be invested in the State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM). This fund will serve as the default investment for all accounts, and parents and guardians will be able to choose allocations into the remaining fund choices in the coming months when additional functionality is added. Other investments include the following.

  • Black Rock iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV)

  • Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI)

  • State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 1500 Composite Stock Market ETF (SPTM)

  • Black Rock iShares Core S&P total U.S. Stock Market ETF (ITOT)
